1/31に無事、I Am Philosophyを配信することができました。関わって下さった方に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。また改めてお礼の記事を書こうと思っています。 そして、既にYouTubeなどで聴いて下さった皆さん、どうもありがとうございます。
It was happiest news that we could finally share our new songs with you back in January. We are so grateful to the talented people who helped out our production. I will write about them later in another post. And thank you very much if you already checked the songs!
2015年にMeと2人で始めた時は、一緒に何か出来たら良いねー、とやりたい事や好きな事などをあーだこーだと話しながらゆるく進めていたので、2年程時間がかかったけど、思いの詰まった作品になったと思っています。
It took almost two years since we started making songs in 2015. We spent a lot of time on talking and discussing on how we see things and what we love to do before we actually go into the production. Two years were kind a long time but I think it was worth to know which way we want to go first.
曲を作る前に、日常に聞こえる音や変わった音などを楽曲に使ってみたいというアイデアがあったので、いろいろな音のサンプルも録音しました。暖炉の燃える音、セロリを切る音、海の音、枯れ枝が岩に落ちる音、浅草寺のお賽銭の音、教会のパイプオルガン、長野にある工房の機械の音、バーナーの音、ドアを閉める音など、沢山。
それをどう使えば良いかが最初はよく分からなかったので、録った音を繋げてみたりして。でも録った音はどれも愛着があって、聴き返すと楽しく、「周りにはこんなに音で溢れているんだ」と改めて気づきました。そして、音楽って何だろうと2人で色々と考えました。
We originally had an idea that we want to use our own sound samples recorded in daily life or in specific places, so we went fieldwork to record sound such as a fire at stove, celery on a cutting board, waves at the sea, dried wood branch dropping on rocks, coins thrown to offering box at a temple in Asakusa, pipe organ practice at a Catholic church, machines at a craft atelier in Nagano, flames from a gas burner, doors everywhere, and many more.
We didn't know what to do with it at the beginning so just connected them together and learned how they went with our inspiration. Gradually we realized how we surrounded by these unique and fun sounds and take them for granted everyday. And we talked a lot about what we think is music.
まだその答えは出ませんが、こんな風に周りにある音を使って、実験しながら、自分達も楽しみながら、作品を作っていけたらいいな、と思っています。そして、I Am Philosophyで少しだけやりたい事が出来たなと自分では満足しています。
We don't know the answer for that question yet but we will continue experimenting, learning and creating pieces, while we live happily in a good balance. I personally feel we get off to good start with it by making I Am Philosophy.
最近は、次のプロジェクトについていろいろと計画を練っていて、また面白いことが発表できそうです。音を使っていろいろ楽しいことをやって、皆さんとシェアしていけたらいいなという思いでこれからも活動していこうと思います。これからもMenoをよろしくお願いします。
